ABOUT JOHN
An early interest in the arts and a family background in craftsmanship and hard work led John to technical theater, where he found that his modest existing skills were an asset. This started a lifelong educational journey that has crisscrossed the continent a few times.
Undergraduate studies included a year in North Carolina, and then three more years in Minneapolis, MN, at the University of Minnesota, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Theater Arts, with an emphasis in Design and Production.
The summers away from school allowed for even more hands-on learning through professional and summerstock work. Firehouse Brewing Theater, Stagewest Inc., Troupe America Inc., and the Black Hills Playhouse were all valuable companies in his formation as a professional fabricator and technical manager
After a short stint as staff in an educational setting, John broke into the commercial scenery world with The Scenic Route Inc., where he worked on trade show and museum installations among other things. from LA, John then went to NYC to test the waters, primarily working with Sets and Effects LLC on similar commercial work. He now lives in Boston, MA, where he is pursuing a Master's Degree in Technical Production at Boston University.
